About Us

The Complementary Healthcare Advanced Research and Leadership Institute (CHARLI) at Life University is committed to enhancing the human experience and advancing whole person health perspectives through research and leadership training and initiatives, community dialogue, and infrastructure support. The institute aims to empower individuals within the Life University community with the skills and resources necessary to conduct rigorous scientific investigation and serve as community advocates for complementary care perspectives.

Our Objectives

hidden

Establish research infrastructure

Tangible and intangible resources are required to support a successful research enterprise. CHARLI provides a framework for administrative support and physical resources for conducting research, training and community dialogue initiatives.

Conduct advanced research studies in complementary health care (CHC)

To advance the knowledgebase of the CHC paradigms, basic and translational research is needed. CHARLI team members will conduct rigorous research initiatives in alignment with the needs of the community and that have relevance to the health of the community at large.

Advance research and leadership capacity through support of structured fellowship programs

Research and leadership are learned skills that benefit from direct mentorship, didactic education and application of knowledge through the conduct of research and participation in public health and community stewardship opportunities.

Foster community dialogue

Leveraging in-person opportunities and technology, CHARLI will initiate programs that foster engagement between scientists, care providers and community members. Engagement and open dialogue ensure that the research and clinical care programs being developed respect the indigenous knowledge that evolved within communities, meet the needs of the community, and translate the research and clinical knowledge in a manner that can be adapted for use by the community.
