Funded Projects

This signature effort provides internal grant awards to support small-scale faculty-, staff- and student-led research and scholarly projects. Examples of such might be funding to test and evaluate neuro-based techniques in concussive research; completing an extended literature review on cultural competency and chiropractic education, or supporting collaboration between a team of investigators in nutrition and biopsychology to explore how mindfulness might influence healthy eating habits.
CHARLI will require all Funded Project applicants to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) prior to consideration in the full program. The EOI will be a brief statement on interest area/topic and project proposal, with estimates of timeline, involved parties, and costs. Accepted EOIs will lead to a mentorship pairing with a member of the Research Advisory Council who will assist with creation of a full Funded Projects application by Week 3 of the following quarter.
Funded Projects applications are peer-reviewed by the Research Advisory Council and Research Leadership Council. All funding applications are judged based upon the Funded Projects Rubric. Final award decisions are made by the Vice President of Academic Affairs in consultation with the Director of CHARLI, and applicants are notified of the outcome Week 8 of the appropriate term.
To apply for a funded project, please complete the following steps:
Step 1: Fill out an Expression of Interest in Winter/Summer quarters.
Step 2: Work with your RAC mentor to complete the Project Overview.
Step 3: Complete the full Funded Projects Application in Spring/Fall quarters (Please note: you will attach the project overview to the application, so you must complete it before beginning the Funded Projects Application).
Step 4: Once your project is accepted, you can apply for expense reimbursement by submitting a Purchase Order. See Links below for helpful videos outlining the process for filling out and submitting your paperwork.
